Yoga Can Alleviate Depression For Pregnant Women

Yoga may help alleviate depression for pregnant women, according to a new study published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice.

Pregnant women at high risk for depression who participated in a 10- week mindful yoga intervention saw significant reductions in their depressive symptoms, report researchers at the University of Michigan Health System.

For the study, women who were 12 to 26 weeks pregnant took part in 90-minute mindful yoga sessions. The yoga classes focused on poses for the pregnant body and provided awareness and support for how the women’s bodies were changing to help their babies thrive.
